Red River Valley Coin Club involve youth in yearly auction
FARGO—Red River Valley Coin Club held their yearly auction on Sunday, but with one small addition.
Before the adults got a chance at their collections, the club held a 'youth' auction.
The children were each given $300 dollars in Monopoly money to places their bets on coins.
The goal? To get them involved with the hobby of coin collecting at an early age while also starting their collection.
"The kids auction is all donated items from coin dealers or club members. It gives them an opportunity to get something free for their collection - something they might not have or something that might interest them," said Jason Jenkins, Red River Valley Coin Club President.
Over 300 coins were auctioned off for the adults and 25 for the kids.
