Local women help thousands of kids with United Way's 17th annual Women United Lucheon
FARGO—Local women are helping thousands of kids with United Way's 17th annual Women United Luncheon.
Eight-hundred women crowded in the Delta by Marriott to raise money for United Way's School Supply Drive and childcare scholarships.
While enjoying their meal, attendants got to listen to speakers who have benefited from the charity.
The afternoon also included a raffle and silent auction, with all proceeds going to United Way.
Employees say the event showcases how much women can impact their community.
"Women are really at the forefront of a household - research would say they invest philanthropically, they are the leaders of the household when it comes to philanthropy. And so women have a tremendous amount of power to give back, especially when they work together," said Kristina Hein, Marketing Director.
This year, the United Way School Drive has given over 5,000 kids backpacks and school supplies.
