FARGO, ND - Maggie Manson led the West Fargo Sheyenne girls golf team to first place, in the EDC's final event of the regular season at Fargo Country Club. Manson got medalist honors with a round of 75, the Mustangs finished with 345 team points, 13 strokes ahead of Red River. The East Regional is next at Maple River Golf Course on September 24th.
WDAY Sports - Top tier teams started to distance themselves this week in the high school football scene and the athletes performances matched it, in this weeks Honor Roll. Outstanding performances from South, Red River, Detroit Lakes and Shanley highlight the best of the best from week 4.
OXFORD, MI - Former South standout, Emily Stroup continues to reach new heights with Ole Miss volleyball. The former Bruin was all over the floor Tuesday, pilling up a new career high 26 kills in the Rebels loss to Memphis.
FARGO, ND - It's been quiet a drought for Fargo North cross country, as it hasn't seen an individual boys champion since 1970. But there is hope, as the second ranked boys runner in North Dakota, Alex Luz, enters his senior year on a mission. Luz's journey has been an interesting one, as he wouldn't have started running without breaking his arm in fifth grade playing football.
FARGO, ND - While the Bison didn't need the pass attack in week one against Cal Poly, the need will come and NDSU is happy to bolstered it's wide receiving corp by clearing Christian Watson to play. Watson missed the last two weeks of fall camp and the season opener, after suffering a low ankle sprain. The 6'3", 193 pound, redshirt freshman could give NDSU its long sought after outside threat. Watson is chomping at the bit to get out there in the green and gold for the first time.
PERHAM, MN - The Perham Yellowjackets walked away from the 2017 season with a sour taste in their mouths. After getting dropped by Pequot Lakes, 56-22 in the section championship, the Yellowjackets put focus on 2018 immediately. With third-year-starter Jenson Beachy returning under center, Perham's offense is primed to sting with just as much firepower as 2017. The Yellowjackets will look for revenge this Friday against Pequot Lakes at home.
Eagles fly past North 49-6 at home. Jesse Forknell threw for 164 yards and four touchdowns in Davies 49-6 win over Fargo North. Ty Satter was his favorite target on the night, he picks up 123 yards and two scores. South edges Red River in Fargodome, 28-21. The Bruins outlasted the Roughriders 28-21 to improve to 2-1. Wyatt Hanson threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns all of which went to South's Bless Flomo.
MOORHEAD - For the outsiders, 2018 could be a transition year for the Moorhead volleyball team after they graduated their setter and leading attacker. However there is one senior that is stepping up early. Brook Carney is learning the leadership role in a hurry. So far this season she is doing it my example. Carney led the Spuds in kills against Fergus Falls Tuesday night with 15.
JACKSONVILLE, FL - It's been an interesting off-season for former Bison linebacker, Nick DeLuca as he was first invited to the Tennessee Titans training camp. A few weeks into his time with the Titans they wanted to move him to tight end, this experiment didn't come to fruition as DeLuca was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. While DeLuca didn't make the 53-man roster for the Jaguars he did sign on to their practice squad where he can continue to learn from one of the best defensive coordinator in the league, former Bison Todd Wash.
WDAY SPORTS - The WDAY Honor Roll returns as Jonah Lietz, Kaden Kueneman, Jon Starkey and more highlight some of the best plays and performances from week two of the high school football season.
