The North Dakota Department of Transportation and Highway Patrol have opened I-29 from Fargo to the Canadian Border. Motorists should be aware that conditions such as high winds, reduced visibility and blowing snow may cause hazardous travel. The no travel advisory has also been lifted.

Bernice “Bea” Ihlenefeld, 104, died on Thursday, Oct. 26, according to a death notice on the Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home website . Bernice was a resident of Touchmark at Harwood Groves, a retirement community in south Fargo for many years.
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for most of North Dakota and a portion of northwest Minnesota. The warning was issued overnight and is currently set to begin at 1 p.m. today and end at 7 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 18. Strong, sustained west-to-northwesterly winds between 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph will coincide with low humidities and temperatures in the mid 60s will create critical fire weather conditions. Any fires that develop may spread quickly.
BOTTINEAU, N.D. — When Jeff Beyer purchased Pride Dairy in Bottineau, N.D., he had no idea that one day be asked to duplicate Thomas Jefferson's vanilla ice cream recipe. "It was a surreal experience for sure" said Beyer, who was approached by Mount Rushmore in 2013 and asked to make a signature ice cream for them. The ice cream flavor was to be a nod to Thomas Jefferson, who is credited with bringing the first written recipe for ice cream to the United States, and was to be named 'Thomas Jefferson Vintage Vanilla Ice Cream.'
Emerado Public Schools will be closing at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 14. Students will go home on the 2 p.m. bus.
