WICHITA, Kan.—The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks rallied for six runs in the ninth inning to earn an 8-5 victory against the Wichita Wingnuts on Wednesday in American Association baseball at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium before 2,543 fans. RedHawks outfielder Keury De La Cruz belted a two-run home run in the ninth inning to spark the game-winning rally. Charlie Valerio capped the inning with a two-run double. F-M (27-23) faced a three-run deficit heading into the ninth inning.
MOORHEAD — A sociology professor at Minnesota State University Moorhead announced Wednesday, July 11, that she will run for Moorhead City Council. Deb White plans to seek the open 3rd Ward seat currently held by Brenda Elmer. Elmer is running for mayor against Newzad Brifki. Troy Krabbenhoft, owner of Krabbenhoft Real Estate Team, has also announced intentions to run for the 3rd Ward seat. The filing period for council candidates is from July 31 to Aug. 14, with the election set for Nov. 6.
FARGO — The intersection of 21st Street South and 12th Avenue South will be closed to traffic until the end of the day Friday, July 13. Traffic will be detoured to 17th Street South via 13th Avenue South and 11th Avenue South. The closure is necessary for the repair of water gate valves.
FARGO—Tyler Heagley had the game-winning RBI single in the seventh inning to lift Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Post 397 to a 4-3 victory against Ada in Minnesota Northwest Sub-State American Legion baseball play at Newman Outdoor Field. D-G-F improved to 14-6 overall.
FARGO – The cities of Barnesville, Minn., and Oxbow, N.D., will see aerial spraying for mosquitoes between 7-11 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, weather permitting. If the spraying needs to be rescheduled, it will take place Wednesday evening. The city of Dilworth, Minn., will spray for mosquitoes starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday or Wednesday, weather permitting.
FARGO – A commercial airplane destined for Hector International Airport landed with smoke in the cockpit Monday, July 9. Shawn Dobberstein, executive director of Fargo’s Municipal Airport Authority, said the 50-seat United Express flight from Denver arrived here at 1:08 p.m. Dobberstein said the cause of the smoke is under investigation and so far undetermined.
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Becker County sheriff’s deputies rescued two Fargo residents from Detroit Lake Saturday, July 7, after they got separated from their boat while swimming on a windy evening, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies responded to a report of an abandoned boat floating on Detroit Lake about 7:42 p.m. Saturday. The sheriff’s office also received reports of two people possibly injured in the water between the J&K Marina and Holiday Haven Motel.
Two people were taken by air transportation to a hospital following a collision on Interstate 29 near Hillsboro Sunday, July 8, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said in an accident report.
EPPING, N.D. – A man who was trying to get a motorcycle off railroad tracks near here was struck and killed by a train Saturday night, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The name of the victim, a 66-year-old from Epping, has not yet been released. The crash happened about 11:30 p.m. on Williams County Road 8, 1.5 miles east of Epping.

The RedHawks (23-22) have won two consecutive games to move a game above the .500 mark. F-M shortstop Yhoxian Medina added three hits and two RBIs.
