GRAND FORKS -- A missing toddler from Grand Forks believed to have been abducted by her mother Thursday afternoon, Aug. 2, has been found safe.
BISMARCK – The Assyrian Muslim Cemetery near Ross in northwestern North Dakota has been listed on National Register of Historic Places. The cemetery is the site of the first mosque in the nation and was the only Muslim cemetery in the state for 90 years, the North Dakota State Historical Society said in its news release Wednesday, Aug. 1. The National Register of Historic Places is the federal government’s list of properties it considers worthy of preservation and recognition.
KILLDEER, N.D. -- Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who was killed Sunday night while riding on Highway 22 west of Killdeer in western North Dakota. Gregory Lehto, 25, of Wheatland, Wyo., was operating a southbound 2006 Suzuki when it left the roadway on a curve and went into the west ditch about 7:55 p.m. Lehto was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
RIVERDALE, N.D.—After a month of heavy water releases from the Garrison Dam on the Missouri River in North Dakota, releases finally are going down and bringing the river and reservoir levels with it as the "Mighty Mo" this summer has been running at its highest mark in seven years.
BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Law enforcement have identified the woman found dead in Lake Bemidji on Wednesday as Amber R. Jackson and it’s not known yet if foul play was involved although no evidence of trauma was found in an autopsy.. Jackson, 32, of nearby Cass Lake, was discovered in the water near the Bemidji Tourist Information Center. A coroner has determined that she drowned.
HALLOCK, Minn.—A West Fargo man will avoid jail time for trying to use Craigslist to solicit a minor for sex, with plans of marrying her in Montana. Chad Brian Peterson, 40, was sentenced Monday in Kittson County District Court to 52 days in jail, which he already has served. The sentence comes after he pleaded guilty to two felony counts of electronic solicitation of children.
HILLSBORO, N.D.—A Florida woman has been accused of killing an unborn child in a Traill County vehicle crash last week. Claudia Rae Grace, 75, of the Villages, Fla., was booked Wednesday, July 19, into the Traill County jail on charges of negligent homicide, a Class C felony, and aggravated reckless driving, a Class A misdemeanor. The case stems from a July 8 crash on Interstate 29 near Hillsboro, where Grace forced a vehicle with a Grand Forks couple off the road, according to a news release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
