METRO—You can get a free donut or free drink for wearing a specific shirt today. United Way locations in Minnesota and North Dakota celebrated the 5th Annual Live United T-Shirt Day. In a sweet partnership, Sandy's Donuts is gave donuts to customers who wore their shirt. Barbacoa is also giving away a free drink from now until to 6 tonight, if you dress the part. The goal of 'Live United T-Shirt Day' is to encourage people to give back.
Welcome to your news update. FARGO DUI ARREST A man is behind bars this morning after driving drunk and hitting a parked car. 35-year-old Tommie King III of Mapleton was driving near the 1600 block of East Gateway Circle when he hit the parked car. No one was in it. King was arrested for DUI.
FARGO—You can celebrate the holiday season early at the Red River Zoo. Starting Thursday, the zoo will host a new event every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday until Dec. 23 called, Holiday Nights. The event goes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on all of those nights. You can participate in a scavenger hunt, get a closer look at a few animals, and take in all of the festive decor during Holiday Nights. The zoo plans to add an ice skating rink by next week. The zoo's Director says, the event is a great way to enjoy the outdoors even in chilly temperatures.
Welcome to your news update. FARGO OFFICER NEARLY HIT A man is behind bars this morning after driving drunk and nearly running over an officer. Around 3:30 a.m. this morning officers were called to a possible disturbance in the 2900 block of 34th Ave. S. in Fargo for reports of a disturbance.
FARGO -- The Essentia Health Regional Foundation is giving you a chance to learn how to make healthy meals for free today. A dietician and chef will lead the cooking class from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Dakota Medical Foundation. The recipes are designed for people that are concerned with both heart and vascular health. At the class, you can learn to make grilled chicken tortilla soup, whole wheat fettuccine with mushroom ragu, spicy roasted chickpeas, buffalo shrimp salad, and quinoa chocolate chip cookies.
FARGO—You can improve your concentration skills and learn how to defend yourself through Aikido. It's a Japanese Martial Art. North Wind Aikikai, a Fargo dojo, is offering beginners classes from now until Dec. 13. Adults can become members for $75 a month, and kids under 12 can join for $45 a month. North Wind Aikikai students say the practice gives you confidence, teaches you how to fall properly, and it's a tough workout.
Welcome to your news update. BODY FOUND IN GRAND FORKS A body was discovered at a truck stop in Grand Forks over the weekend. Authorities responded to a call at the Flying J Travel Plaza off of I-29 just before 10 yesterday morning. Officers found the man in the cab of a truck.
FM AREA— Seven homes around the Fargo-Moorhead metro are opening up their doors for holiday decor tours over the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday from noon till 5:00 p.m. you can feel merry and get inspired at the 31st Annual Homes for the Holidays event. Local designers spent several days working with homeowners to create indoor winter wonderlands. One of the designers says each home features unique pieces that you could try to duplicate.
DILWORTH, Minn.—The newest grocery store in the Fargo-Moorhead metro is now open. Excited shoppers braved the cold temps Thursday morning to celebrate Aldi's grand opening. At 8:30 a.m., Aldi workers celebrated the new store with a ribbon cutting. The first 100 customers were given gift cards valued anywhere from $10 to $100, a free reusable bag, and a chance to win free produce for a year. Aldi representatives say they are excited to be a part of the metro community.
