Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The only abortion clinic in North Dakota is asking for more volunteer escorts. The Red River Women's Clinic says it's in an effort to properly staff for an expected rise of protesters outside their clinic. Today is the first day of the annual '40 Days for Life', a pro-life campaign that calls for an end abortion. During the 40 days, pro-life protestors visit clinics around the country to express why they are against abortion.
Fargo, ND (WDAY News) - A student at Fargo North High School is now in juvenile detention after bringing a BB gun to school and carrying it for half the school day. Administrators were told about the gun Monday afternoon about 1:30. Police were called and the student was taken into custody. The student has been identified as a boy in his junior year. Threats were not made by the student, and no ammunition or BB pellets were found. Another student knew the boy had a gun and told school administrators.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - North Dakota is one of the fastest growing state in the union over the last 5-years. A recent study from NDSU projects the state will grow from around 740,000, to almost 900,000 by the year 2029. The senior population in Cass County will increase from around twenty-five-thousand to almost 45-thousand by the year 2029. The growth in population is because of baby boomers retiring.
Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Third-graders at Ellen Hopkins Elementary School now have a valuable tool at their fingertips. Members of the Moorhead Rotary Club donated dictionaries to students this morning. This is the 11th year that the organization has made dictionary donations. While visiting with students, the group teaches students to use their new dictionaries.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Police are on the lookout tonight for a man who exposed himself to a school bus full of students in Fargo this morning. It happened as fourth graders from Oak Grove Lutheran School were on their way to the Hjemkomst Center for a field trip.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Cass County is offering a great way to make extra money. The county is looking for Election Clerks and Election Judges for the November 8th election. Judges must be US citizens, residents of Cass County, and at least 18 years old. Clerks must meet all of the same requirements as Judges except for age. Clerks can be 16 years old.
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's the last day of summer and for North Dakotans that means it's time to start preparing for winter. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program helps North Dakotans with utility bills. The program can cover anywhere from 5 to 95 percent of a homes' needs including, weatherization services, electricity, and propane costs. Those who apply must qualify for the program based on their household's income and assets.
Moorhead, MN (WDAY News) - Concordia College is going where many only dare to go, encouraging its students to discuss the relationship of America and the Middle East. This week, it's hosting the annual Faith, Reason, and World Affairs Symposium. The theme is "America and the Middle East: Local and Global Dimensions". The topic has been in the works for two years. Event organizers hope that the symposium will help students and those in the community better understand the rich, diverse history and culture of the Middle East.
