MOORHEAD - Maroon and gold is in the bloodstream of Rachel Bergeson. Her earliest memories are of Concordia Cobber athletic events.

It seemed fitting that Bergeson was named athletic director by the college on Wednesday, completing a road that's traveled every job imaginable at the school.

Bergeson was a former women's basketball player, to assistant coach, then to administrator. She twice filled the role of interim athletic director, most recently after Jeff Bretherton resigned back in April.

She says she's ready for the job now after learning that she could still be with her family and run the Concordia athletic department.

Bergeson is aware of the challenge of fundraising, but says "who better than me to talk to people about Concordia athletics?".
