FARGO - North Dakota State defensive end and All-American Greg Menard will miss the 2017 season after tearing his right ACL in practice on Friday.

Menard was a first team Missouri Valley Football Conference player in 2016, racking up 11 sacks.

Menard has 28 career sacks, which is seventh on the school's all-time list.

Menard played as a true freshman in 2014, which makes him eligible to use his redshirt this season and return for 2018.

He was inserted into the starting lineup at Weber State in the second game of the 2014 season and never left, learning from Buck Buchanan winner that year, Kyle Emanuel.

Bismarck native Stanley Jones was slated as Menard's backup on NDSU's initial depth chart for the 2017 season.
