H.S. Basketball: Shanley splits double-header with St. Mary's

FARGO - Regardless of what sport whenever rivals Shanley and St. Mary's meet its always a battle.  

On the hardwood it was a battle between two of the top girls basketball teams in the state between the third ranked Deacons and fifth ranked Saints.

With 3:40 left in the game, St. Mary's used a 10-2 run to take the lead and go on to hand Shanley its first loss of the season 59-52.

Deacons sophomore guard Reile Payne led her team with 19 points in the loss. 

In the boys game between Shanley and St. Mary's, it was the Jake Kava show. 

The Deacons senior forward poured in 45 points to surpass the 1,000 career points milestone and lead Shanley over St. Mary's 77-58.

With the win, the Deacons move to 4-2 this season.
