WEST FARGO - It was a phone call that changed Matt Strahm's life.

The West Fargo native was in the middle of rehab when the Kansas City Royals told him he was heading west to San Diego.

Strahm picked up his life in the middle of trying to get his knee healthy after a patella injury and now gets set to start a new chapter with a young and up and coming team.

Strahm says he will be ready when spring training opens February 14th for pitchers and catchers.

The Padres first game in the Cactus League is set for February 23rd.
