ND Legislature debates future of tobacco prevention

Representative Bob Skarphol says the need for expansion of our medical school and our healthcare workforce across the state is a better use of dollars.

REP. BOB SKARPHOLTioga: "And serve 100 percent of North Dakota instead of trying to get fifteen percent of the people of North Dakota to discontinue a practice, which quite honestly you would have had to live in a cave for thirty years to not know that it is bad for you to smoke."

The move would repeal Measure 3 passed by voters in 2008. Heidi Heitkamp says voters have already spoken in favor of tobacco prevention and that's where the money should go.
