Former UND star Dressler lands in CFL

BISMARCK - Former standout University of North Dakota

The Bismarck native graduated from the Fighting Sioux program
last year with 19 school records. He had hoped to land with an NFL
team, but wasn't drafted.
Dressler says rather than risking getting cut at an NFL camp as
a free agent, he decided to go north.
He signed for two years, with both himself and the Roughriders
holding an option for a third.

Fargo couple surviving family ordeal

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Kelli and Jason Medders of Fargo are
praying for a day when they can bring their daughter home from a
Minneapolis hospital. It might not be for a while, and they say the
ordeal is frustrating and exhausting.
Kelli Medders initially was pregnant with identical quadruplets.
One fetus died during an operation to correct a blood flow problem.
The 28-year-old Medders then gave birth in early November by
Caesarean section.
Callie is the only child to survive. Her weight is still
measured in grams instead of ounces, and her lungs aren't yet
strong enough to breath on their own.

'Funeral Day Burglar' found guilty of 10 counts in Missouri

PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) - A burglar who authorities say used the obituary pages to help select his targets is now facing up to 78 years in prison. Dane Johnson was convicted Friday of 10 counts of burglary and stealing. Prosecutors say Johnson and a co-defendant burglarized more than 30 Kansas City-area homes, picking their victims in part by reading real estate listings and obituaries. In one of the cases in which Johnson was convicted, a man was at a funeral for his wife while Johnson burglarized his home. The co-defendant received 28 years in prison in October of 2006 after pleading guilty. The two were arrested after a 2006 home burglary in which a resident confronted them.

MADISON, Wis. Wisconsin authorities say a religious "superior" had claimed the corpse would come back to life. The children, ages 15 and 12, cried hysterically after a deputy who came to the home looking for the woman ordered them out because of the stench from the body. The children are in foster care.
SpongeBob SquarePants image painted on historic Colorado cabin

MONUMENT, Colo. (AP) - The U.S. Forest Service is looking for the "SpongeBob fanatics" who painted the cartoon character on the chimney of a historic building.
The 10-foot-tall painting of Nickelodeon character SpongeBob SquarePants turned up on a cabin in the Pike National Forest that used to be the Forest Service's tree nursery until it was abandoned in the 1930s. Forest Service law enforcement officer Tom Healy says the incident is part of an increase in vandalism in the area.
Officials say whoever painted the cartoon on the chimney brought four colors of paint and spent a lot of time doing it. Healy says it will cost several thousand dollars to wipe the animated yellow sea sponge's image from the site.

Allen had written a letter to Virginia's attorney general saying he wanted to suspend all appeals and that he had not authorized appeals that had already been filed on his behalf. But his lawyer this week wrote to a federal judge that Muhammad now does want to move ahead with an appeal.
