WDAY The Morning Buzz Co-Host

Tracy Briggs is the co-host of “The Morning Buzz” with Ben Ziegler 5:30am to 9:00am on 970-WDAY-AM in Fargo. Ben and Tracy take listeners through their busy mornings with the latest headlines, traffic information, weather, and sports. You’ll also hear up to the minute Hollywood gossip and those quirky stories that’ll make you chuckle. Your thoughts are always welcome on “The Morning Buzz”

Tracy grew up in Fargo after stops in Iowa City, Iowa, New York City and the Washington, D.C. area. She graduated from Fargo South High School in 1982 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of North Dakota in 1986. Several years later she received a master’s degree in Communication from North Dakota State University. (Yes, she’s a Sioux and a Bison!).

Upon graduation, Tracy worked briefly in Public Relations before taking a position as a reporter at WDAY-6 TV news. She eventually became the producer of the 10pm news, followed by stints as the producer/anchor of the weekend news and producer/anchor of the 5pm newscasts.

In addition to covering general assignment and spot news stories, Tracy specialized in historical reports chronicling the history of the region.

After spending 17 years in television news, a desire to spend more time with family compelled Tracy to pursue her career in morning drive radio. While it’s not always easy to wake up at 4:30 am the schedule allows her to spend afternoons with her young children.

Most recently Tracy has been the project coordinator of the WDAY WWII Honor Flight Program: a collaborative effort by WDAY and the community to send 675 WWII veterans to the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. completely free of charge. The community raised more than $600,000 to make it happen.

Tracy is also a freelance writer and has taught Broadcast News Writing at Concordia College and Media Writing at Minnesota State University – Moorhead.

In her free time, she enjoys relaxing and vacationing with her family which includes her husband Mark Jensen, an associate chemistry professor at Concordia College in Moorhead and daughters Laura (7) and Jordan (5).
