MAN CHARGED IN FATAL FIGHT EXPECTED TO CHANGE HIS PLEA

It's been more than a year since a fatal fight outside a downtown Fargo bar.

Today, Darren Patterson is expected to plead guilty. He initially pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated assault, manslaughter, and simple assault. Last night at 10, we told you how WDAY found court records that dismissed the simple assault charge. Today, a change of plea hearing is scheduled. Patterson is accused of punching three men outside of a downtown bar and hotel last May. One man, Jamie Grant, fell back and hit his head on the pavement, and later died. Patterson told police the men attacked him, when he pleaded not guilty. The other two charges are felonies. The trial was set to begin next Tuesday, June 19th.
