MOORHEAD, Minn. — It was the perfect day for student athletes at Moorhead High School Wednesday morning.

They held a track and field competition for Special Olympics.

Students were able to show off their skill in events like the 50 meter dash and long jump.

Organizers say it's a great opportunity to showcase talent and encourage inclusiveness.

"I think it showcases what they can do, instead of what they can't, and it gives them a day to shine," says organizer, Diane Brendemuhl.

About 400 students participated.
