MOORHEAD — The city's two municipal golf courses will have a different food and beverage vendor for the first time in more than a decade.

Holly Heitkamp, Moorhead Parks and Recreation Department director, said O'Leary's Irish Pub was contracted for food and beverage service of the city-owned golf courses starting this season. The Moorhead City Council approved the lease agreement with O'Leary's at its meeting Monday, Feb. 26.

Food and beverage service at The Meadows, 401 34th St. S., and Village Green, 3420 Village Green Drive, golf courses will be provided by O'Leary's owner Barrett Prody, who Heitkamp handed over the keys to this week.

For the past 11 years, Machi LLC, owned by Corey and Stacy Herlickson, has been the vendor for the courses. Machi discontinued its contract Dec. 23 in light of Corey taking a new position as the head golf professional at Oxbow Country Club.

A full restaurant at The Meadows will remain in operation and O'Leary's will provide other grab-and-go items like what has been offered in the past, Heitkamp said, adding that the new vendors have some fresh ideas to grow business, too.

Machi paid 10 percent in sales to operate at the courses, but O'Leary's will pay 15 percent. O'Leary's will remain open at its existing location, 808 30th Ave. S. in Moorhead.
