After stealing roses from Fargo grocery store, suspect fled and hid in ceiling of West Acres business, police say

Terrance Lee Keplin.

FARGO — A Fargo man could spend this Valentine's Day behind bars after allegedly shoplifting roses, fleeing from the scene and hiding in the ceiling of a business at West Acres Shopping Center.

Officer Jessica Schindeldecker said the call came in shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, of 33-year-old Terrance Lee Keplin stealing a bouquet of roses from Hornbarcher's along 13th Avenue South.

The grocery store reported the shoplifting incident to police, and a responding officer chased Keplin into the nearby mall parking lot. Schindeldecker said that Keplin continued running into the mall where he barricaded himself in the back storage closet of MasterCuts.

While in the storage room, Keplin stole an undisclosed amount of money from an employee's wallet and managed to hide inside the ceiling. Schindeldecker said that he eventually came down when he realized he couldn't evade authorities, and he was then apprehended.

Keplin remained in custody at the Cass County Jail on Tuesday, Feb. 13, on charges of criminal mischief, theft, refusing to halt and a probation violation.
