Stephannie Stiel named to East Central Judicial District judgeship
BISMARCK, N.D. — Gov. Doug Burgum has appointed Stephannie N. Stiel to an East Central Judicial District judgeship.
She starts Feb. 1, the governor's office announced Friday, Dec. 22.
Stiel will be chambered in Fargo. She replaces Judge Norman Anderson, who is retiring Jan. 31.
Stiel was a shareholder at Conmy Feste Ltd. in Fargo, where she has worked since 2004 in civil litigation and employment law.
She was a judicial law clerk for the North Dakota Supreme Court from Aug. 2003 to July 2004, president of the Cass County Bar Association in 2010 and president of the Ronald N. Davies Inn of Court from 2008 to 2009. She also served on the board of governors of the North Dakota Association for Justice from 2008 to 2013.
Stiel grew up in Aberdeen, S.D., and graduated with degrees in criminal justice and psychology from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2000. She attended the University of North Dakota School of Law, graduating with distinction in May 2003.
She also is a founding member of the North Dakota Chapter of Hands & Voices, an organization dedicated to supporting families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
She and her husband, Tom, live in West Fargo with their four children.
