United Hearts for Haiti in the F-M area hoping to raise funds to help those affected by Hurricane Matthew
Fargo, ND (WDAY News) - A local organization with roots in hurricane-ravaged Haiti is looking at options to help the southern part of the island nation rebuild.
United Hearts for Haiti out of Fargo-Moorhead has assisted the southern part of Haiti for the past eight years.
The organization's president, Paul Aladin says hurricane Matthew destroyed much of the south peninsula.
He's hoping to raise funds for supplies and to help rebuild leveled cities.
"I've never seen this in my life. My family is affected, and many other people. 80 percent of houses are destroyed, the schools are destroyed, the buildings are destroyed, so now we're going to have to rebuild the whole city," said Paul Aladin, United Hearts for Haiti.
United Hearts for Haiti is building a school in Haiti, which has been used as a shelter since Matthew.
