Fargo Landfill closed due to strong winds
FARGO — The Fargo Landfill was closed at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, because of "extreme wind."
The National Weather Service said earlier in the morning that a wind advisory would remain in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday due to south winds of 25 to 35 mph gusting up to 55 mph across much of the Red River Valley.
A news release from the city said debris from trucks often blows away from the landfill, 4501 7th Ave. N., during times of strong winds.
Residential garbage pickup wasn't affected by the temporary closure, and the city expected the landfill to be open again Wednesday, Jan. 31.
