Fargo Park District's Joe Vettel closing in on his 1 year anniversary
FARGO -- Joel Vettel is coming up on his one year anniversary with the Fargo Park District.
The former police lieutenant became executive director late last summer, but worked with outgoing director Roger Gress for some time before and after.
The District has 120 full time employees and more than 1,300 part timers.
Vettel has been focused on evaluating all park district programs and defining core values.
He says he misses his former job, but his new job has many similarities.
"I loved what I did for 19 years as a law enforcement officer. But more importantly, it provided me a real strong sense of purpose, and that's community purpose. The benefit of taking on this new role is... that I still have that same purpose." Vettel tells us.
