Carrington hop farmers have more demand than supply
Carrington, ND (WDAY TV) - Business is booming for a group of North Dakota farmers. And they say demand for their crop is higher than their yield.
They are harvesting hops, a major ingredient in beer near Carrington. They say the growing micro brewing industry in North Dakota is what leads to their success.
This is their second year harvesting hops and think others should consider growing hops, too.
"You know they are fairly intensive and they're kind of a high input crop but if people can grow them I think that there's a lot of potential for our state," said Mike Ostlie, Farmer growing hops.
Ostlie says it will take about four years for his hops plants to mature.
