Fargo, N.D. (WDAY-TV) – A famous brand of green and gold made an appearance at the Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo Monday afternoon.

However, it wasn’t the crew that normally drops by from a local university-- familiar to hospital employees or football fans alike.

Today’s heroes were engineers from the Valley City John Deere Seeding Group.

The handful of cheerful delegates represented the first group the well-known company has sent to the hospital in an official capacity.

And they came prepared.

John Deere donated more than 40 toys to the pediatric patients as they dropped by rooms to chat with the pediatric patients and their families.

The gift, a box set of a tractor and air seeding equipment, were familiar to the engineers.

"We build the air seeding equipment in Valley City, so the toys that the kids are getting are representative of what we produce here in North Dakota," said Neil Fuchs.

And while it was the first visit, representatives say it certainly won’t be the last time John Deere makes its presence felt at the Children’s Hospital.

"We do want to continue doing this sort of thing,” said Fuchs. “Hopefully, we'll brighten somebody's life a little bit."

I joined the WDAY 6 news team in September of 2013 as a weekend anchor and reporter. I am currently the Assitant News Director and 5p.m. anchor. Previous to arriving in the F-M area, I worked as a broadcast journalist at the CBS affiliate (KTVQ) in Billings, Montana (sidenote: my hometown). I have worn many hats in my young broadcast career as an anchor, reporter, producer, sports producer and online producer. However, my favorite role to play is storyteller. Off the clock (are we ever really off the clock?) I enjoy taking in a sporting event on TV or in person. On the professional level, I root for Seattle teams. As a graduate of the University of Montana, I also enjoys FCS football (but forgive my allegiance). I also enjoy reading, watching movies, listening to good music and frolicking in the outdoors. I enjoy those things all the more when I can do them with my wife and our daughter. If you have a story idea for me, or just want to say hello, you can send me an email!
