Two injured in two-semi crash east of Valley City

Valley City, ND - A two-semitrailer accident at 10:55 a.m. Thursday east of Valley City resulted in minor injuries, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The patrol said the crash happened on westbound Interstate 94, about six miles east of Valley City.

According to the Highway Patrol, Lindsay Eastman, 51, Dickinson, was driving a 1006 Peterbilt semitrailer on I-94 when he was distracted by a vehicle passing him. Eastman didn’t see the semi in front of him, a 2000 International driven by Dennis Hopkings, 57, Malakwa, BC, Canada, was traveling at a slower speed. Eastman ran into the backend of the International semitrailer. The semi Eastman was driving started on fire after the collision.

Both men wore seat belts. They were transported by Valley City Ambulance to Valley City Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

Damage to the Peterbilt was total, while the International had rear end damage.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
