Moorhead council OKs tax break for townhomes project
MOORHEAD — The City Council here approved a two-year, $19,200 tax break for a developer building townhomes near Village Green Golf Course.
Construction of six 4-unit townhomes along the 3000 block of 30th Street South will kick off this month now that Riley Rude of Black Diamond Townhomes LLC was granted the exemption Monday, May 14.
The estimated value of the townhomes is $2.9 million. The units will have three bedrooms and three baths with a two-stall garage and patio.
The project will be built in three phases, with each phase consisting of two 4-unit buildings.
Rude anticipates construction to wrap up by next March.
Economic Development Director Cindy Graffeo said the townhomes would be rental units.
The site plan includes three 13-unit apartment buildings that were constructed last year at the 3100 block of Village Green Boulevard with the assistance of a two-year, $50,400 tax break the council approved in 2016 to South Moorhead Partners LLC.
The owner is selling the remainder of the project to Rude for the townhomes. Rude had to re-apply for the exemption to move forward with construction.
