ND judge orders woman to write apology letter for harassing 2 neighbors while drunk
MINOT, N.D. -- A 38-year-old Minot woman was sentenced to community service and ordered to write a letter of apology for coming home drunk last Nov. 14 and trespassing at one neighbor's residence and trying to break into the residence of another neighbor in southeast Minot.
Brandy Sue Semm pleaded guilty Wednesday, Feb. 28, in district court to Class A misdemeanor criminal trespass. She had originally been charged with Class C felony trespass.
Judge Gary Lee sentenced Semm to 20 hours of community service, ordered her to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation, to have no contact with the victims, to write that letter of apology, and to pay $325 in court costs. He also reserved restitution in the matter for 30 days.
One neighbor ordered Semm to leave at gunpoint. The neighbors in the other residence took refuge in a bathroom when they heard Semm trying to break in for up to 10 minutes, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court.
