Fargo police warn of new phone scam
FARGO — A new phone scam has turned up in the region where a person calls a potential victim, identifies themselves as a Fargo police officer, then offers to make a legal issue "go away" if they send them $200, according to a Fargo police spokeswoman.
There have been multiple reported incidents of the scam, Officer Jessica Schindeldecker said Wednesday, Feb. 14.
Fargo police staff will never call and offer to make a criminal matter go away for any dollar amount, Schindeldecker said. She added that people receiving such calls should never give out their personal or financial information.
