Five Floridians, one South Dakotan arrested in Fargo smash-and-grab thefts

FARGO — Six arrests have been made tied to recent smash-and-grab thefts from vehicles, the Fargo Police Department announced Wednesday, Jan. 31.

The thefts were made Jan. 18-22 in local child care and fitness facility parking lots, police said.

Those arrested and the charges they face include:

• Roger Lamar Cooper Jr., 20, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., five counts of conspiracy to commit theft of property

• Elmer Denard Ellison, 30, of Fort Lauderdale, five counts of conspiracy to commit theft of property

• Marie Ashely Swier, 23, of Canton, S.D., five counts of conspiracy to commit theft of property and two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia

• Joy Barron Totterdale, 56, of Fort Pierce, Fla., five counts of conspiracy to commit theft of property

• Roger Lamar Walker, 38, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., five counts of conspiracy to commit theft of property

• Christina Noel Whitaker, 28, of Lantana, Fla., five counts of conspiracy to commit theft of property and two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia

Police said the investigation into the thefts is continuing. Authorities urge people to remove valuables such as purses and wallets from vehicles, and lock the doors.
