Elementary students learn to "Pay it Forward"
FARGO, N.D. — More than 60 4th graders from Washington Elementary school learned something you won't find in many school books.
The students took part in a "Pay it Forward" service learning fair.
The 4th graders created dog toys for an animal rescue group, stuffed dolls for children who've experienced trauma, and recycled T-shirt bags and cards for families who might not have enough money for birthday celebrations.
Those involved hope this will create a lasting impression.
"It's important, because they're learning about giving back to other in the community," says teacher, Melissa Krueger. "This will be something they, hopefully, will carry on with as they get older."
The school has been doing projects like this for more than 15 years.
