Veterans express themselves through art at annual festival
FARGO—Veterans are using their artistic skills as a form of therapy.
Vets are able to showcase their sculptures, paintings and photographs in the second annual Veterans Creative Arts Festival.
Judges chose winning artists throughout the showcase, who can then go on to the national creative arts festival.
Organizers says, it's a way for the vets to express themselves while helping themselves.
"And it can access those parts that in talk therapy a lot of times they can't access, and words aren't enough to express what's going on," said Kim Douglas, Recreation Therapist.
This is the second annual creative art event at the VA.
