Farmers discuss proposed Agriculture budget cuts during Northern Corn and Soybean Expo
FARGO—President Trump's budget is slashing the U.S. Department for Agriculture's budget by more than $3 billion.
News that's certainly been shared for the more than 700 growers and Ag experts at the Northern Corn and Soybean Expo.
"If" the current plans go through, the budget would cut out millions from crop relief and subsidies, to name a few.
Despite the proposed cuts, and possible drought conditions, growers do what they do best, stay positive.
"We're optimists. We have to be. We're going to plant the seeds in the ground and hope for the best because that's all we can do," said Matt Gast, North Dakota Soybean Council.
Tuesday was the only day for the expo, but officials say they'll host it again next year.
