Autism support organization hosts skating event
GRAND FORKS, N.D.—Families who have loved ones with special needs, came together for a day of bonding on ice.
Sunday afternoon, people young and old took to the skating rink, as part of the TACA Autism support Organization.
It encouraged hesitant skaters to come to the event and create long lasting memories.
Volunteers from the UND Hockey Cheerleaders were also there to help lend a helping hand to kids who never skated before.
"Hanging out with the kids and their siblings, it's been fun to have the siblings help us help their siblings with autism and it's just fun to put a smile on their face and hang out with them," said Emily Gilbertson, Cheerleader.
Skate rentals were available from Play it Again Sports at no cost to families.
