Hicks running for Clay County Sheriff
FARGO—The first candidate has stepped forward in hopes of becoming the next Clay County Sheriff.
As we told you earlier this week, longtime sheriff Bill Bergquist is retiring.
Detective Jason Hicks made the announcement on the Jay Thomas Show on WDAY Radio.
Hicks has been in a law enforcement for 17 years, 11 in Clay County.
He says he's gained great leadership experience behind the badge, in the army and with the VFW.
He addressed some controversy he's faced.
Hicks was reprimanded for a post he made on social media about a man banned from all Fargo Parks.
Hicks says it was meant as satire, and he's learned from his mistake.
The primary is in July and election is in November.
