FIRE INJURES TWO FIRE FIGHTERS

Dangerously cold temperatures made it difficult for firefighters to battle flames over the weekend.

One blaze left two firefighters injured in Park Rapids. The fire happened Friday night. As crews fought the blaze, two firefighters suffered minor injuries. The cold, presented unique challenges. The firefighters would battle with extreme heat, then extreme cold, causing their gear to thaw, then freeze. This increases their risk for hypothermia, fatigue, dehydration and frostbite.
