East Grand Forks PD looks to buy body, squad car cameras
EAST GRAND FORKS—A local police department is hoping to provide more transparency through using body cameras.
The East Grand Forks Police Department wants to buy eight body cameras and five squad car cameras.
The PD plans to use the system to take a closer look at interactions between officers and the public.
The technology could also help investigations by having video for officers to play back, revealing things they might've missed.
"It does provide an additional view for our perspectives on what the officer is seeing, what they're encountering on any types of calls, that evidence could be very valuable," said Chief Mike Hedlund, EGF Police Department.
The city is holding a public hearing on January 9th for input on the proposal.
