KEEPING KIDS WARM THROUGH THE COLD

Dangerously cold temperatures are gripping our region and Grand Forks police are warning parents to watch out for their little ones.

As children head out of the warmth of homes, police are asking parents to check what they're wearing. They say sub-zero temperatures can make it easier for a child playing in the snow to get too cold too quickly.

KEEPING PETS WARM THROUGH THE COLD

It's not just children you should watch for, but also your furry friends.

Sub-zero temperatures are expected to stay in the Valley through at least next weekend. Police are asking people to bring their pets inside to keep them safe from the biting wind chills. They say the weather is just as dangerous for pets as it is for people.

"CURB PIRATES" TARGETING BIG PURCHASES

Police are warning you not to become a target for "curb pirates."

You may have heard of "porch pirates" who steal packages from your home. Police say "curb pirates" scope out neighborhoods, looking for the unwrapped boxes containing high end gifts. The empty boxes are a neon sign for these thieves advertising what's inside your home. Police want you to wait for garbage pick-up day before putting boxes out or dispose of them in a separate place.
