FARGO—NDSU students from different fields gathered Monday to dive into each other's work from this semester.

More than 500 NDSU students showed off their writing skills in the Great Plains Ballroom as part of the Student Writing Showcase.

They shared projects from more than 50 different classes, ranging from creative writing to tech writing.

Instructors say the event, which some students were required to go to for class, inspires students to see their classwork's value beyond a grade.

"We want them to have a sort of a way to feel proud of their own work, not that they've just gone through the exercises checking the boxes this semester," said Lisa Arnold, Assistant Professor.

This year's event drew 1,000 people.
