911 call leads to arrest of car burglary suspect in Fargo

FARGO - A witness to suspicious activity in the early morning hours Saturday led Fargo Police to arrest a 29-year-old man on felony burglary charges.

Jesse Ortega, Fargo, was arrested after police responded about 2:45 a.m. to a 911 call reporting a car prowler in the area of 4700 Spencer Lane S. The caller provided a description of the vehicle the suspect was driving.

Police said they located the vehicle, and the driver began to throw items out. They then conducted a traffic stop. Officers were able to trace the suspect’s path through fresh snow to the location of other vehicles and a garage.

The investigation found at least 15 vehicles were entered or attempted to be entered, along with one garage that was entered.

Ortega was arrested on two counts of burglary and unlawful entry to a motor vehicle, all felonies. He is being held in the Cass County Jail.
