Fargo Public School District shifts education focus
FARGO—The Fargo Public School District made it clear Thursday: it's embracing change.
At the district's annual state of the schools address, several educators explained how education is changing in Fargo.
They explained there's a shift in focus from traditional skills to modern ones.
Emphasis is placed on problem solving skills and career oriented education.
Speakers say it's important to supplement math and reading with lessons on technology and coding.
"If we start making those connections now, they will have an easier time picking that up as they continue to go," said Brenda Cain, Washington Elementary.
The district expects a growth of about 150 students per year for the foreseeable future.
