Fargo police warn of burglary trend along South University

Special to The Forum

FARGO — Police here are asking residents and business owners along South University Drive to take extra precautions after a recent increase in burglaries.

The affected area on University is south of Interstate 94 and north of 40th Avenue South, Lt. George Vinson said Monday, Oct. 16, in a post on NextDoor, a social networking website and app for neighborhoods.

"During the past week or two, we have seen an increase in burglary crimes specifically to businesses along the South University Drive corridor," Vinson wrote. "Despite most of them being businesses, apartments have been involved as well."

Vinson said people should "remain vigilant in locking your garages and vehicles." A strike plate cover on doors provides an additional level of security, he added.

Suspicious activity can be reported to police by calling 911. Questions about the rash of burglaries can be sent to Vinson at gvinson@fargond.gov.
