1,700 volunteers help senior citizens throughout metro on 'Day of Caring'
METRO—Members of the WDAY team gave back to the community with the 26th annual United Way "Day of Caring."
They cleaned gutters and raked leaves for 83-year-old Dorothy Storsved.
Throughout the afternoon over 1,700 volunteers helped over 400 senior citizens living in the metro.
Volunteers also pulled weeds, trimmed trees, and cleaned outside windows.
Dorothy Storsved said, "I really appreciate all of what they're doing, and what they did last year - they're very nice people. And I gave the name United Way to all of my friends and they've even been contacted."
This year, the Day of Caring also included handmade cards from the volunteers for each senior citizen visited.
