Loud explosion leaves ATV in flames in Otter Tail County

OTTER TAIL COUNTY -- Authorities are investigating an incident involving a loud explosion and ATV fire on Saturday.

Home security footage shows as the explosion happens behind the garage.

The owner Jerome Reinan says he had parked the ATV in his driveway minutes before.

He had just realized it started on fire before the explosion happened.

Neighbors came to help hose down the fire before authorities arrived.

No one was hurt.

The Otter Tail County sheriff's office is trying to figure out a cause.

According to the Polaris website, some off-road vehicles have been recently recalled due to fire hazards.

The owner tells us his model is not currently on the recall list, but he hopes Polaris will consider doing so and investigating.

OTTER TAIL COUNTY – Authorities are investigating an incident involving a loud explosion and an ATV that caught fire Saturday afternoon.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office took a report about a loud explosion before the incident.

When officials arrived, they found the fire to be contained to an ATV, with no other buildings or vehicles damaged.

Jerome Reinan, the owner of the 2014 Polaris Ranger 570 Crew, had parked it in a driveway before going inside a home for roughly ten minutes before he heard the explosion.

No one was injured and no other property was damaged in the incident.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion.
