FARGO—Three groups came together for a special project to help a veteran in Fargo Tuesday morning.

They removed siding off Vietnam veteran Gerald Phillips' home on Tuesday as the first phase in a renovation.

The Fargo-Moorhead Rebuilding Together chapter organized the project.

It received a grant from the Sears Heroes at Home program to fund it and then enlisted the help of volunteers from the national Bike and Build program.

They're college students that ride across the U.S. during the summer and provide labor for projects.

Phillips' says it's hard to find the words to show his appreciation.

"These are really a bunch of nice people to come through to help us today to volunteer their services and really, (I'm) grateful for them," said Gerald Phillips, Project Recipient.

The Bike and Build volunteers are on a tight schedule.

They're riding to Grand Forks for a project on Wednesday.
