Man and woman die in rollover crash south of Wahpeton

One person charged with DUI after van hood flies up while driving, causing crash

Carrington, N.D. (WDAY/WDAZ-TV)--One person was taken to the hospital and charged with DUI after authorities say they caused a crash just west of Carrington.

North Dakota Highway Patrol says it happened Sunday, June 18 around 7:30 in the evening on Highway 52.

56-year-old Frances Gasper of Carrington was heading east when the hood of the van flew up, causing Gasper to slam on the brakes.

A semi behind the van, driven by 65-year-old Aron Sorokin of Canada, also slowed down and veered to the right to avoid hitting the van.

The van also went right and the two crashed and hit the ditch.

Gasper was taken to the Carrington hospital.

Sorokin was not hurt.

The crash is still under investigation.
