Habitat for Humanity hosts house-building event for women
MOORHEAD -- Habitat for Humanity is empowering women through volunteering as it begins work on its latest house.
Volunteers began laying the foundation of Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity's latest home in Moorhead.
The beginning is coordinated with National Women Build Week.
Build Week is an effort by the organization to highlight the challenges women face in homeownership.
Representatives of Habitat for Humanity say the week is very meaningful to the organization.
“Really important to us, because over half our homes have been for single moms. It's a really fun event and it happens nationwide, with more than 300 Habitats taking part in Women Build Week,” said Pete Christopher of Habitat for Humanity.
