Moorhead man accused of sex assault of child after his brother convicted of similar offense
MOORHEAD—A Moorhead man is accused in Clay County District Court of sexually assaulting a child under 13.
Warren Kent Hines, 55, faces two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct for acts allegedly committed between October 2015 and April 2016.
According to a court complaint:
A mandated reporter contacted Moorhead police in February regarding a child who had disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted.
The disclosure came while the child was in a vehicle driving past an apartment building in Moorhead when she indicated that a man lived there who had performed sex acts on her.
An investigation led to Hines being identified as a suspect and Hines agreed to be interviewed by police.
During the interview, Hines initially denied having improper contact with the child, but eventually admitted that he had sexual contact with the child about once a week for a couple months.
Hines claimed he never enjoyed the sexual contact but let the child do it because she wanted to.
According to the court complaint, the child indicated she had previously been abused by another man, identified in the complaint as Bradley Steven Hines, the defendant's brother.
The child said Bradley Hines would take her to other men's houses and leave her there.
Bradley Hines of Sabin was sentenced in early 2016 to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child.
In the latest case, Warren Hines said he stopped having sexual contact with the child victim after his brother was caught.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Warren Hines.
