Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Fifth graders at Washington Elementary School had a extra fun and furry visitor today.

K-9 Bali showed off some of his skills today.

Bali, the 4-year-old Belgian Malinois, is partnered with Fargo Police Officer Jeremiah Ferris.

The dynamic duo showed students the different commands Bali knows.

Students also learned what K-9's are used for, like searching for drugs or tracking down people of interest.

"Their job is to keep police officers safe, they are going to building and finding suspects that may be hiding, barricaded," said Jeremiah Ferris, Fargo Police. "They are used to track suspects that may have fled the scene. Their noses are a wonderful tool in the department."

The two have been partners since August 2012.

K-9 Bali also lives with Officer Ferris.
