Sex Trafficking survivor, unveils new organization to help those coming out of the life, speaking at NDSU Tuesday
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A new chapter in the life for one of the main characters in our award-winning documentary, "Trafficked."
Tuesday night at NDSU, Danielle John will share her life story during a special program at Reineke Fine Arts Center, called: "Sex Trafficking-A Closer Look."
Danielle and Atonement Lutheran have started a new group to help survivors of trafficking.
Who can forget the brutal honesty of sex trafficking survivor Danielle John?
“It turned into guilt, shame, what I had done, what I put my family through,” said John.
“And live life, not just exist and not have my past dictate my future,”
Danielle this week, unveils her new organization called "The Next Step ND,” geared to those who are coming out of a life of trafficking.
“Our organization is directed to survivors, men or women, who have either gone through shelter care and gone through treatment, who are out of the life and getting on their feet and into the community.”
Danielle's group will be a branch of Atonement Lutheran's Voice of the Captives, a nonprofit aimed at educating the public of the problems of trafficiking.
“Not a Christian problem, but I believe the solution lies in the church. The church's call to step up and help those seeking restoration and a great way to connect with people who do not know Jesus,” said Lisa Hanson with Atonement Lutheran-Voice for the Captives.
Danielle will wrap up her college degree this spring; raising three kids, school full-time, and now this. Educating the rest of us about how one woman not only survived, but thrived.
